Rick earned his Master of Arts in Counseling in 2021. While new to private practice, he brings a wealth of experience from his work with incarcerated individuals, focusing on those with major mental health concerns, anger and violence issues, as well as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Rick’s mission is to guide others toward meaningful change, helping them find happiness and fulfillment.

Rick believes that we each play an active role in “programming” our own lives. He employs a Choice Theory and Reality Therapy approach to encourage clients in making positive, self-directed choices. Integrating Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy techniques, Rick helps clients connect deeply with their values and strengths. Inspired by Viktor Frankl’s words, “When we are no longer able to change a situation—we are challenged to change ourselves,” Rick supports clients in developing resilience and adaptability in the face of life’s challenges.

Outside of work, Rick is an avid Husker fan and enjoys photography, fishing, and hunting. His most cherished moments are spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
